The ability to use language is God-given. Language enables us to know God and communicate our understanding of God; explore and expand our private and public worlds; organize our experience; and form, recognize and reveal our values.
The purpose of developing language arts skills is to provide a vehicle for communication: a communication that will effectively enhance one’s relationship to God and be a means of sharing the good news of the gospel. This ability is essential to Christian growth and allows an individual to be a functional citizen in society.
